The culmination of a year’s photography is this epic coffee table photo book!
With the closure or Ratcliffe on Soar Power Station, we completed one of our biggest corporate photography assignments.
When Uniper asked us to produce content in the run up to the closure in September 2024, it wasn’t just video we were shooting.
One of the tasks was to photograph the power station site and people working on it, to provide photography for a coffee table style photo book, as well as for PR and archive purposes.
With 625 pages of photos to fill, the task was substantial!
Dave spent many days photographing, often alongside other team members spotting for the drone, or capturing video.
As well as taking pictures, he also enjoyed the excellent canteen, in particular Shawarma Thursdays….
Produced by Scintilla Design, it marked the end of an era as coal fired electricity stopped in the UK in 2024.
In addition to the main book with new photography, a second book in B&W of historical photography was also produced.
Page One had a hand in that as well.
Digitising old photographs, curation of historical images from our archives, as well as providing online hosting of all the pictures to aid in production.
These historical photo books were presented to station staff after the shutdown in September.
Shot exclusively on Sony cameras and using our DJI drones, almost all weather and lighting conditions were encountered!
Group photography dodging showers and night photography of trains, was balanced by sunny days capturing aerial photography.
This photography marked the end of an era in electricity generation in the UK.
With extensive videography also filmed, including the shut down and an epic 360′ tour of the power station, we captured imagery which will live long after the site has been knocked down.
