There is a nationally important by-election taking place in Notts right now… Not that you would notice from our local media’s conspicuous absence….
I spent a few days on assignment producing editorial photography for the Sunday Times last week , working with A. A. Gill and then on Saturday being dispatched on a watching brief…
With half the cabinet expected, plus Farage and co, I turned up at a reasonable hour to ensure we didn’t get caught out… Good normal practice. I was pretty surprised, in fact gobsmacked, to be the only photographer who bothered to turn up, until the afternoon when the Post and AFP turned up for a scheduled UKIP event…
So, with journalist in tow, we managed to lock onto Farage and got a nice exclusive set of pictures with him… And these images are a black and white edit from the larger mix that I shot.
Included in the mix is a photograph of the only person in Bingham to challenge Farage over his election material… Questioning why benefit abusing Brits should have priority for housing over hard working and contributing immigrants… As the UKIP leaflet proposes. A nice story that should have been picked up by the local media… If they had gone out into the field, instead of waiting to have it served on a plate…
All of these are shot on the Canon 5dmk3’s… The 17-40l, and the 85 f1.8. ( that lens just gets better every day!)
